The Nebraska Grassland Alliance

We are a community connected by a shared passion for Nebraska’s grasslands. We are the people, businesses, and organizations who live in, work on, study, and shape these landscapes.
In May 2024 and January 2025, nearly 100 individuals representing more than 50 unique entities—ranchers and landowners, tribal nations, wildlife advocates, conservationists, sportsmen’s groups, state and federal agencies, and rural communities—came together to craft a shared vision for Nebraska’s grasslands.
The Nebraska Grassland Alliance was formed to carry that vision forward. We welcome anyone who shares our commitment to sustaining Nebraska’s grasslands for generations to come.
Our Shared Vision
Our ideal Nebraska grasslands:
- Are ecologically sustainable
- Promote economic prosperity for communities and grassland agriculture
- Foster learning and nurture appreciation
- Inspire appropriate policy and leadership
- Support thriving and inclusive communities
Our ideal Nebraska grasslands are shaped by effective and adaptive grassland and ranch management. Through evidence-based, active, and responsible stewardship, we live in a healthy, resilient, and diverse grassland landscape.
While providing opportunities to access and experience nature, we foster learning that nurtures appreciation and motivates advocacy based on experiencing and understanding our grassland’s intrinsic values. Through this outreach, we enhance our efforts to actively shape policy that supports our vision.
Collaboration among all stakeholders ensures that all people are valued and included as we build community. Focusing on effective communication for inclusive and mutual understanding, we promote and support diverse leadership. We recognize indigenous knowledge while deepening partnerships with native communities.
We depend on successful generational, cultural, and knowledge transfer to promote economic prosperity for ranchers, grassland agriculture, non-profits, government and thriving communities.
